Executive Director

The Kawartha Lakes Community Futures Development Corporation, the KLCFDC, is currently seeking a dynamic leader to serve as our Executive Director.  We require a strategic thinker who can work with the Board of Directors in creating plans for our growth and development, and then execute them.

KLCFDC has been supporting the City of Kawartha Lakes and Victoria County for over 30 years with small business counseling, community economic development activities, grants and contribution programs, and investments in local businesses through our lending.  We have gained a reputation as one of Ontario’s best managed community-based organizations, as well as in being an advocate for the development of growth opportunities across the region of Eastern Ontario.  This includes leading projects in the areas of high-speed internet connectivity, transportation infrastructure, business and community financing, and tourism.  KLCFDC is recognized as an innovative, financially sound and well managed organization that works collaboratively with all levels of government and in particular has maintained a constant and fulsome relationship with the Government of Canada through its Regional Development Agency, FedDev Ontario, who oversees our operations.

The Executive Director will report to a local volunteer Board of Directors, work with a professional staff of 3, and collaborate both within our own community and beyond, including with the 14 other CFDCs which serve the region of Keswick through to Cornwall and across the northern borders of Renfrew, Lennox and Addington, Hastings and Haliburton counties.  The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations and must ensure the effective delivery of government programs, manage budgets and financial performance and maintain, as well as expand, numerous stakeholder and other relationships within and beyond the community of Kawartha Lakes.  They must be capable of creating partnerships with the business community, other organizations providing both similar and different support services, volunteer and professional groups and the media.

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of management experience working within a like organization/field and be familiar with business and economic development principles You must have experience in supervising staff, hiring, training and performance management. 

You must be comfortable with public relations and social media and be willing to initiate speaking opportunities in representing the KLCFDC.  You must be proficient in computer skills inclusive of not only Microsoft Office programs but also management software and proprietary programs.  You must have a proven track record in developing and executing promotional activities and ideally possess a broad network of contacts in business and government.
