CF Ontario Announces the 2019 Recipients of Awards for Excellence

September 16, 2019 – London, ON

Each year Community Futures Ontario (CF Ontario) recognizes excellence in three categories:

  • Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Innovation
  • Community Economic Development

Today, CF Ontario is pleased to announce the recipients of Awards for Excellence honoured at the 26th Annual CF Ontario Conference in London, Ontario (this year held in partnership with Econous).

Kapuskasing, ON – Fromagerie Kapuskoise – Entrepreneur of the Year; From being a dream to opening their doors four years ago, the Fromagerie is a favourite stop for locals and tourists alike for artisan cheese. Thanks to the assistance received from North Claybelt CFDC, the Fromagerie was born to become the delicious success it is today.

Superior East, ON – Northeast Superior Regional Broadband Network – Innovation Award; With representatives from participating First Nations, and Municipalities and Economic Development Organizations in the Region – the group is focused on building a broadband network in every community to improve economic growth, resiliency and improved access to health and education services. Without the assistance of Superior East CFDC this initiative would not have been possible.

Saugeen, ON – Saugeen Connects – CED project; Working in partnership with their local CFDC, Saugeen Economic Development Corporation, this project addresses current issues facing the five municipalities (Brockton, Hanover, Minto, Wellington North and West Grey); labour force development, entrepreneurship, youth and newcomer attraction, aging population, and succession planning.

Congratulations to all our recipients and the many outstanding nominees. List of nominees.

The Community Futures Program is a Canadian government funded program facilitating rural economic development. Each year, they recognize excellence in three categories: Entrepreneur of the Year, Innovation, and Community Economic Development.
