MEDIA RELEASE
For Immediate Release
“Temiskaming-Cochrane Breeder Coop Bovine Expansion Project”, CED Project Award Winner
September 20, 2018 – Northern Ontario
Community Futures Ontario recognizes the Temiskaming-Cochrane Breeder Cooperative as the Community Economic Development (CED) Project of the year.
Since inception, the Temiskaming-Cochrane Breeder Cooperative has supervised 158 loans totaling almost $4,200,000 through the MOU and has directly benefitted 158 beef farmers through membership in the Breeder Coop.
Agriculture tends to act as a moderating effect on our rural communities and this project leverages that by increasing herd sizes to the point that value-added finishing and processing of beef become a viable option in the future.
Congratulations South Temiskaming Community Futures Development and thank you to all supporting organizations and Community Future Development Corporations (CFDCs) – Kirkland and District, Economic Partners, and North Claybelt that have assisted in the success of this project!
Background:
Each year Community Futures Ontario, a government funded program to facilitating rural economic development, recognizes the successes and impact of Community Futures Development Corporations in three categories: Entrepreneur of the Year, Innovation, and Community Economic Development (CED).
