PRINCE EDWARD/LENNOX & ADDINGTON COMMUNITY FUTURES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
PELA CFDC AND INDUSTRY CANADA INVEST IN LOCAL PROJECTS
NAPANEE, Ontario, January 14, 2005
Mr. Doug Sexsmith, Chair, Prince Edward/Lennox & Addington Community Futures Development Corporation (PELA CFDC), today announced, on behalf of the PELA CFDC Board of Directors, support of two projects under the Local Initiative Program of the Eastern Ontario Development Fund. The two projects are:
DOWNTOWN NAPANEE URBAN DESIGN PLAN
Applicants: Napanee BIA, Town of Greater Napanee & Lennox & Addington County
Funding: $8,000
Project Objectives: The Urban Design plan will develop:
A new design theme and logo for streetscape improvements
A detailed design plan to coordinate sidewalk improvements
A detailed design plan for all streetscape elements including lighting, furniture and special features
A preliminary signage program
An implementation plan and strategy for future funding
NAPANEE DOORS OPEN PROGRAM
Applicants: Napanee & District Chamber of Commerce, L&A County Museum, Allan Macpherson House, L&A Historical Society and Town of Greater Napanee
Funding: $8,000
Project Objectives: Use the well-recognized Doors Open Ontario trademark program to draw visitors to historical sites in the community.
We are pleased to support projects that assist economic diversification and growth in the region, said Chair Sexsmith. PELA CFDC is proud of the tremendous efforts of the Napanee & District Chamber of Commerce and Napanee BIA, and their committed to the community.
Through this initiative, the Government of Canada is acting on its commitment to support economic growth and diversification in rural areas.
Funding for this initiative was provided for in the March 2004 federal budget, and is therefore built into the existing fiscal framework.
