August 06, 2004 - Winchester
The SD&G Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) is pleased to welcome Ideal Pipe to our local business community. After a long site selection process, Ideal Pipe has started moving in to their new location at 691 St. Lawrence Street, and is expecting to commence manufacturing operations in September of this year. Alvin Runnells, Mayor of North Dundas stated, “I am delighted to have another manufacturer in North Dundas, especially one that ties in with our existing agricultural cluster.”
Ideal Pipe will be manufacturing and distributing corrugated plastic drainage tile from this, its fourth manufacturing location. In Winchester, they will be making four-inch drainage tile for agricultural purposes. They will also use this location for distributing larger diameter tile and plastic culverts, for both agriculture and municipal uses, like road drainage and sewers. This new location will serve the Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and northern New York State markets.
The SD&G CFDC has worked with Ideal Pipe since 2003 to find a location that suited their needs. Acting Executive Director Derrick Moodie said, “It has been a long process, but I think that they have found a location that is a very nice fit.” Randy Clarke, President of Ideal Pipe stated, “We have been looking at Eastern Ontario for quite a while; as our sales continued to grow in this area, the time was right to have a physical location there.”
Ideal Pipe is a family-owned business based in London, Ontario. They also have manufacturing operations in Blenheim, Ontario and Carman, Manitoba. They have served the agricultural drainage sector for over thirty years. They manufacture plastic drainage products ranging from 2” to 30” in diameter.
The SD&G CFDC provides economic development services to the region of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, and is funded through a partnership between Industry Canada and the United Counties of SD&G.
