Ontario’s TalentEdge Internship Program (TIP) provides support for college and university students (undergraduate, graduate and PhD) and recent graduates (up to three years) to work on collaborative industry-driven projects across all disciplines and areas of specialization. Postdoctoral Fellows (PDFs) must apply through the TalentEdge Fellowship Program.
TalentEdge internships are intended to provide interns with an experiential learning opportunity and hands-on industry experience. Interns are required to spend a portion of their time on-site or in the field with an industry partner. The amount of time spent with the partner should be mutually determined and will depend on the nature and needs of the project.
Each four-month internship unit is valued at $20,000 as follows:
- $10,000 from Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE)
- $5,000 industry partner cash contribution
- $5,000 industry partner in-kind contribution
Internship units are scalable and may be held consecutively.

TalentEdge Fellowship Program (TFP)
Ontario’s TalentEdge Fellowship Program (TFP) provides support for Ontario-based Postdoctoral Fellows (PDFs) to work on industry-driven research and development projects. This program is open to PDFs across all disciplines and areas of specialization. Fellowships may be university or company based.
TalentEdge fellowships are intended to provide fellows with the opportunity to work with an industry partner on a cutting edge R&D project and gain hands-on industry experience. Fellows are required to spend a portion of their time on-site or in the field with the industry partner. The amount of time spent with the partner should be mutually determined and will depend on the nature and needs of the project.
Each 12-month postdoctoral fellowship is valued at $85,000 as follows:
- $32,500 from OCE in cash and $2,500 in value for professional development annually
- $25,000 industry partner cash contribution
- $25,000 industry in-kind contribution
A fellow may hold a maximum of two consecutive fellowships over 24 months.
