The Small Business Internship Program has experienced considerable success since its launch April 1.  CFDCs can encourage small businesses to apply for funding to hire students to enhance their internet presence.  The program will reimburse 75% of the student’s salary for 420 work hours.  Projects are aimed at improving small business visibility through social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, or increasing their profitability by creating the capacity for online sales.  In total, the three CFDC delivery agents have approved 48 businesses:  24 in the regions handled by the Middlesex Business Resource Centre; four in the Francophone regions handled by Prescott Russell Community Development Centre; and 20 throughout the rest of rural Ontario delivered through the OACFDC.  There is still funding available so visit the SBIP website for more information on how to apply:  www.oacfdc.com/ont-sbip, or call Stephanie Long at the OACFDC office 1-888-633-2326 ext. 22.
