Henderson Farms, a family run business, was started in 1987, producing organic fruits and vegetables and making Jams and Jellies for the local Kingston Farmer’s Market.  I started entering my preserves at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto in 2000.  It’s a well-known national competition showcase for Canadian food artisans. I have won Grand Champion Jam and Jelly Maker 3 years now, and been runner up a few years as well. I have also won Grand Champion Pickle Maker 2 years ago and was a runner up last year.

Henderson Farms products are on the Kingston Farmer’s Market 3 days a week from May to October. Jams and Jellies are not just for toast any more.

At market or during the craft shows, people always ask:  “What’s your new flavour this year?”  l love experimenting and developing new flavours for our products such as my favourite: Rhubarb and Fig Jam with a cracker, some blue cheese and a glass of port or Ginger Jam used as condiment on Samosa, Sushi or in a stir fry. We currently make 52 flavours of jams, jellies, marmalades and mustard. This past year, we started to produce home made ketchup and pickled beets. Henderson Farms also hosted a “Farm to Table” organic dinner on Wolfe Island in 2013. Through the “Taste of Wolfe Island” a non for profit association, to promote locally grown food on Wolfe Island.
