Robert Kaune started a part-time venture servicing local farmers and industry in the Niagara region.  As sales grew, Mr. Kaune decided to devote his full-time energy to the project so he incorporated and brought his wife into the business.  While the company became well-established, Mr. Kaune wanted to have a product which would differentiate his business from the competitors.  In consultation with customers, the custom design and fabrication of truck bodies was developed.  Among the first customers were the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Natural Resources.  Still trying to establish a competitive advantage, the company designed a light-duty two-way dump truck named the “ACCENT”, exclusive to the company.  “The manufacturing of truck bodies is a very competitive market,” explains Robert Kaune.  “To set us apart from our competitors, we had to create a strong niche within the market.”  The truck was designed for all season versatility for municipal and private users from landscaping to salt and sanding.

After seven years in business, the company employees four full-time and one part-time employee, and continues to offer its original services of industrial maintenance, general welding, restorations, light industrial fabrication, sandblasting and painting.  The company has been assisted in its growth by financial and advice support from the Welland Business and Community Development Corp.  “We would like to thank our customers for their continued loyalty through the years as well as the WBCDC for their support for the continuous growth of South Central,” stated Melissa Kaune.
