Executive Director, Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations (OACFDC)
The Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations operating as Community Futures Ontario (OACFDC) is seeking a dynamic, strategic thinking leader to advance rural economic development in Ontario by working with national, provincial and regional networks to strengthen and support its 60 member CFDC offices.
About OACFDC:
The core mandate of Community Futures Ontario is to support 60 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in rural and remote communities across the province, delivering the Community Futures Program. Funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agencies for Northern and Southern Ontario, Community Futures Ontario works collaboratively with the networks to support members in providing quality services. The organization’s values are accountability to member CFDCs, collaboration and cooperation with partners, and responsiveness to the needs of member CFDCs. OACFDC serves as the members’ voice for the Community Futures Program in Ontario.
Overview:
Responsible to the member CFDCs and reporting to a board of directors, the Executive Director is charged with the overall leadership and management of the OACFDC. As the organization’s leader the Executive Director ensures sound financial oversight, builds trust and maintains excellent member relations, and assists in advocating for funding and program efficiencies on behalf of members.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the OACFDC’s strategic direction and plan. Lead the board and staff in achieving organizational goals to advocate for rural community economic development and strengthen CFDC capacity.
Financial Management: Oversee the development and management of the annual budget. Ensure financial stability and compliance with funding agreements.
Member Relations: Build trust and maintain strong relationships with member organizations and national, provincial and regional networks. Provide value-added support to CFDCs through timely information, common tools, and knowledge-sharing opportunities that enhance their economic development efforts and make them employers of choice.
Advocacy and Public Relations: Represent the OACFDC with all levels of government, industry stakeholders, and the public. Enhance the organization’s reputation and advocate for the tools, resources, and support required for the success of the Community Futures Program.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, public administration, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated senior management experience
- Knowledge and understanding of a non-profit or association environment.
- Experience in advocacy or political acuity is considered an asset.
- Experience in assessing, reviewing or proposing government policy.
- Proven track record of financial management and budget development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and relevant technology
- Bilingualism considered an asset
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $105,000. OACFDC offers attractive benefits, vacation, remote work and a group RRSP.
